The 13-inch MacBook Air from Apple 2020 works with the MacOS Monterey.

The latest version of the Apple Mac operating system, macOS Monterey (aka MacOS 12) is now available for download as a public beta (here how to download macOS Monterey public beta ). First unveiled at the Apple Global Developer Conference in early June, macOS Monterey will include new features such as: Universal controls , AirPlay and lots of the same iOS 15 updates , Like surround sound in FaceTime .
You will need a compatible device to download and install the public beta of MacOS Monterey or the final release released in the fall. And while booting Windows 11 has been full of confusion about which devices can run the operating system , Apple’s Compatibility List is much simpler.
Any Mac compatible with the Monterey macOS
Here are all the Mac models on which MacOS Monterey can run, according to Apple :
- MacBook , early 2016 and later
- MacBook air , early 2015 and later
- MacBook Pro , early 2015 and later
- Mac pro , late 2013 and later
- Mac Mini , late 2014 and later
- iMac , late 2015 and later
- iMac Pro , 2017 and later
As our sister site ZDNet points out, this means that the following Macs can’t be upgraded: MacOS Big Sur :
- iMac , mid and late 2014 and early 2015
- MacBook air , mid-2013 and early 2014
- MacBook Pro , late 2013 and mid-2014
- MacBook , early 2015

Use zoom on a Chromebook
Zoom is one of the most popular video conferencing services on the Internet. You may be wondering how to use it on a Chromebook, because you can’t install typical desktop applications. Do not worry. It’s easy.
In June 2021Zoom has converted its Chrome OS environment to a progressive web application (PWA). PWA is basically a website that you can “install” like a traditional application, but still run it in a browser. This is great for lower performance devices like Chromebooks.
Note: You can also use Zoom on the Zoom website without any installation, but PWA will be more integrated with Chrome OS and provide an overall nicer experience.

We need to install Zoom PWA from the Google Play Store on your Chromebook. Open it and search for “Zoom PWA”. Install the one called “Zoom for Chrome – PWA”.
After installation, click “Open” in the Play Store. You can also launch the app from the Chrome OS drawer.
You are now looking at a typical Zoom homepage. From here, you can “Join a Meeting” or “Sign Up” in your account.
Zoom PWA has many of the same features as the full desktop version (via Zoom):
- Customizable gallery view (on supported computers)
- Self-service rest rooms
- Live transcript
- Live translation (with assigned interpreters)
- New background masking feature for privacy
- Raised hands and reactions to the meeting
That is all. You get the same basic magnification experience, only slightly reduced for the browser. However, PWA still feels more like an application than a simple website.
